La Virgen del velo de Giovanni Strazza
Lograr que un material sólido como el mármol luzca como una pieza de tela que reposa sobre el cuerpo o rostro de una persona requiere de mucha habilidad. Darle una forma satisfactoria a los materiales ya comporta una gran dificultad, y si encima es sobre mármol, el nivel de exigencia se multiplica. El mármol es una roca metamórfica derivada de la roca caliza. Frente a otros materiales usados en la escultura, este posee la ventaja de asemejarse al color humano, lo que permite un mayor grado de realismo, en la representación de personas. Eso sí, las esculturas de mármol no admiten rectificaciones. Las obras se esculpen a partir de un bloque único al que se le va haciendo forma, por lo que recurrir al hiperrealismo es todo un reto. Esta obra no tan conocida se llama “La Virgen del velo” y fue elaborada completamente en una sola pieza de mármol por el escultor italiano Giovanni Strazza. Para mi representa arte en estado puro, esfuerzo, talento y dedicación, que comparto hoy en mi red de contactos. Espero que, al contemplarla, os sirva de inspiración.
